Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality
what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul
I have had a pretty good week all-in-all, I had a week off from work which I was really starting to need rather badly. I definitely had to recharge the old batteries and just have a bit of chill time which I think I’ve managed to do quite well. 😉
It was my birthday last Sunday and I was totally spoiled. It was great haha! Seriously though, it was a pretty good birthday – just had a nice quiet day with dinner out and then some company later. It was really great.
My other half surprised me with a new Kindle for my birthday! My old one still works but it is about 7 years old now so it was definitely time for an upgrade. My new one is the Fire HD 10 and it is so pretty… I also treated myself to quite a few books and bookish purchases because why the heck not? 😛

weekly bookish purchases
Finale by Stephanie Garber | This Time Will be Different by Misa Sugiura | Birthday by Meredith Russo | Beauty Sleep by Kathryn Evans | Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer
I know I already have the Fairyloot special edition of Finale but I wanted the regular edition too! I’m also very happy to add This Time Will be Different and Birthday to my shelves. I’m also really chuffed to finally own Beauty Sleep and Call it What You Want!
The Chosen by L.J. Smith | Soulmate by L.J. Smith
I already own both of these editions but my copies are a little bit… well, battered and worse for wear! When I saw these on eBay I knew I had to buy them. 😉
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody | King of Fools by Amanda Foody | What if It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera | You First by J.C. Lillis
I’ve been meaning to read Ace of Shades and King of Fools for ages. I also was really happy to see a new book by J.C. Lillis – I love How to Repair a Mechanical Heart so much so I’m really looking forward to this!
Cinderella Boy by Kristina Meister | King of Snowflakes by Michele Fogal | King of Rain by Michele Fogal | Us by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy
Another couple of LGBT books added to my shelf this week. I’m really looking forward to these especially Cinderella Boy (love a good contemporary retelling!)
All Eyes on Us by Kit Frick | Where Death Meets the Devil by L.J. Hayward | Why the Devil Stalks Death by L.J. Hayward | Claws by Zaya Feli
I can’t believe I only found out about Claws being released just this past week! I have been waiting and checking back on this for ages but then it somehow slipped my notice! I read it straight-away (natch!)
If She Knew by Blake Pierce | If She Saw by Blake Pierce | Indigo Rebels by Ellie Midwood | Drive Me Wild by Julie Kriss
I’m really looking forward to reading If She Knew and If She Saw – I’m really in the mood for a good thriller and these look like they will do the trick!
Accepted Fate by Charisse Spiers | Hometown Calling by Lexy Timms | Hitting the Sweet Spot by Lara Ward Cosio | Chasing Eva by Camellia Hart
These covers actually go really well together don’t they? They are all very colourful and eye-catching. I’m really enjoying contemporary books right now.
Wrecked by Elle Casey | Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin by Mariana Zapata | Roomie Wars by Kat T. Masen | Meant to Be by Melody Grace
I am really looking forward to reading Wrecked and Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin – they both sound really good!
Off the Edge by Carolyn Crane | Dirty Dom by Willow Winters | The Play by J.H. Croix | One by E.S. Carter
Handsome men on covers – I do like looking at these ones! I can’t wait to read this series by Carolyn Crane – I adored her The Disillusionists series!
The Wedding Trap by Adrienne Bell | Wild Temptation by Mari Carr | At Last the Rogue Returns by Adele Clee | The Girl by Lola St. Vil
Another round of tempting covers! I’m eager to read these (I’m particularly intrigued by At Last the Rogue Returns – it’s been a while since I’ve read any historical romance). 😉
The Tetradome Run by Spencer Baum | The Earl Finds a Bride by Bess McBride | An Invitation to Murder by Leighann Dobbs & Harmony Williams | Intangible by C.A. Gray
Rounding out my haul are The Tetradome Run (the synopsis of which reminds me of The Running Man) and a couple of fantasy / historical murder mysteries.
received for review
Fortuna Sworn by K.J. Sutton | One Night with Finnbar by Leo D’Lance | A House of Rage and Sorrow by Sangu Mandanna | Another Dance by L.A. Ashton
I didn’t go too crazy this week but I am very much looking forward to reading these. The cover for Fortuna Sworn in particular beckons me…
