stacking the shelves bookish haul

Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality

what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul

It’s been a quiet week, not much happening at all. Work has been busy so I’ve pretty much just been crashing when I get home and it hasn’t left a lot of time for anything else. I did make it out to the cinema on Thursday (to see Hobbs & Shaw) which passed some time. I was laughing to see a certain familiar street in Glasgow make a brief appearance in the film haha!

weekly bookish purchases

Wicked Fox by Kat Cho | Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz | A Bargain in Silver by Josie Jaffrey | Love on the Run by Katharine Kerr

Wicked Fox came in a book box and looks so pretty I just can’t stop staring at it haha! I pre-ordered Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark months and months ago (I remember reading it when I was a kid!) so I was thrilled to learn they were going to be re-releasing all three books in a bind-up featuring the original art by Stephen Gammell!

I was also super-chuffed to win A Bargain in Silver by Josie Jaffrey via an author giveaway! Thanks so much to Josie Jaffrey for getting it sent out so quickly and for the personalised message and signature. I can’t wait to read this! Lastly, I also finally picked up the fourth and final book in the Nola O’Grady series by Katharine Kerr.

Fool’s Errand by Robin Hobb | Fool’s Fate by Robin Hobb

Check out these first editions of Robin Hobb’s Tawny Man trilogy! I was going to display them with my US edition of The Golden Fool but it is so much larger I’ve actually tracked down a UK hardback edition. I seem to have a problem whereby I need to own all the editions haha!

Nothing But This by Natasha Anders | Five Years From Now by Paige Toon | Clouded by Envy by Candace Robinson

I read More Than Anything a few weeks ago and while I liked it (and the main couple Tina and Harris) I was more intrigued by Harris’ brother Greyson and wife Libby’s story so was happy they were getting their own book. I’m about a third of the way in and I’m enjoying it so far. I also finally bought Clouded by Envy which has been on my to-buy list for ages.

freebies

At Any Price by Brenna Aubrey | At Any Turn by Brenna Aubrey | Often by Danielle Norman

As per usual, I’ve been on the hunt for freebies (I’ll need to stop at some point because who knows when I’ll find the time to read most of them!) These all looked too interesting to pass up though…

Love Like Crazy by Carmen Desousa | Enough by Danielle Norman | Where Are You by Sally Bryan

The covers for these are very enticing and I’m especially intrigued by Love Like Crazy – it sounds really interesting.

The Intern by Brooke Cumberland | Heather by Chris Keniston | Meant to Be by R.L. Kenderson

Some more romances added to my Kindle shelves! I’m really enjoying contemporary romances lately, after not really reading much at all for countless years.

Getting Wilde by Jenn Stark | The Unbreakable Curse by Alexia Purdy | Dangerous by Alycia Linwood

Just to mix it up a little, I also got some urban fantasy novels. I keep meaning to get back into the genre because I do enjoy it. Now I don’t have any excuse!

Empty Bones by Zach Bohannon | The Kishi by Antoine Bandele | Born Evil by Julia Derek

The Kishi sounds reallyy interesting but the cover is freaking me out a little bit… in a good way! I keep flashing to skin walkers which I don’t think is what the story is about. 😉

Alpha Jasinda Wilder | Overture by Skye Warren | The Promise of Paradise by Allie Boniface

Lastly, another couple of romances – a few of the more… spicy variety haha! Hopefully they are good…
