June 2016 – Wrap-Up

I am way behind again with wrap-up posts (the last one was February – what the heck is wrong with me these days??) but I wanted to try to get back in the swing of doing these posts monthly.

here are the books i read:

bury me deep

One book. One. Single. Measly. Book. And to top it all off, it’s a re-read. 🙁 I really fell behind on my reading this month (although last month I read no books at all so I suppose one is still an improvement on that).

challenge update:

Failing miserably. Lets just leave it at that. 😛

what i watched on the box:

Game of Thrones: Holy hell, what a way to end the season. After a bit of a dip over the middle part of the season, the last two episodes pretty much blew me away. Can’t wait for next season (although boo to the fact that it will likely only be five episodes).

Preacher: Watched the first episode. Not quite sure what to make of it but I love Joe Gilgun so will probably stick around. It’s pretty weird though. 😉

Outcast: Interesting premise. I have only watched the first couple of episodes but rather liking it so far. Not sure how long they can keep momentum going though.

What I watched at the cinema:

Captain America: Civil War: I loved, loved, loved this film though I do wish it had focused a bit more on Cap and Bucky (along with Sam and Natasha). I really enjoyed it but did feel that it was less a Captain America film and more of an extension of The Avengers. Still awesome though.

Midnight Special: It was alright though the ending was a little bit crap. I did get a kick out of seeing Adam Driver as a nerdy, science guy though!

Friend Request: I actually rather liked this one! It was fun seeing Lexa from The 100 in this.

Alien + Aliens: The Director’s Cuts Double Bill: My local cinema was running a double bill of these films and it was awesome to finally see them on the big screen!

X-Men: Apocalypse: It was alright but not great. I think the X-Men films are definitely losing steam. I did enjoy Quicksilver though. 😉

The Conjuring 2: Scary-ish but not as good as the first one. Also lost a little of its appeal by greatly exaggerating the role of the Warrens (they had very little to do with the case in real-life). Still a good film though.

Mother’s Day: An hour and a half of my life I will never, ever get back!

Independence Day: Resurgence: Eh… it was watchable but not the best. The first film was dumb but a lot of fun, this one was definitely the former but really lacking in the fun.

The Secret Life of Pets: Pretty funny but not as good as Despicable Me. Great film for kids though.

what else I’ve been getting up to:

I took part in my first Bookstagram challenge(s) – go me! I had a lot of fun with this so I am definitely going to keep this up. Here are some of my favourite photos:

I just love a towering stack of books lol. I haven’t yet quite mastered the art of getting the lighting just right so it is a little bit dark but I like the composition of this shot.

I must, must, must read the Throne of Glass series this summer.

Most of my Robin Hobb books are boxed away until I get my new bookcases so these are just a few of her books. I actually have ALL of them though. 😉

I just like the clean look of this photo though again it is still a little bit too dark. I am getting better at taking photos though!

here are my posts since my last wrap-up

wrap it up

Whelp, thanks for sticking around to the end of this June Wrap-Up. Hope you all had a great month and that July is a good one for you all! Onwards and upwards as the saying goes! 😀

  1. UGH challenges, tell me about it… I don’t want to think about them…
You’ve watched SO MANY MOVIES this month. I only made it to see Warcraft (as chosen by my brother and my boyfriend). It was ok but definitely made for only the people who have previously knowledge of the world.
I hope you have a fantastic July!
